Give people enough guidance to make the decisions
you want them to make. Don’t tell them what to
do, but encourage them to do what is best.
-Jimmy Johnson-
I am seeking that guidance. I open myself up to the wisdom of the masses, to my friends and family, and most important to God who will be my rock and guide me on the path that he wants me to be on. I need to open my eyes, ears and heart and listen to what he has to say and implement his teachings to accomplish His goals for me. Lord give me the strength to seek you, to know you, and follow your path for me. If I waver give me the courage to keep moving forward. When I am afraid let me not stumble but ask you for your strength to guide me.
This is my prayer. Lord I’m here. Guide me.
I would not consider the masses or even friends and family to be wise advisors, but would look directly to God and His word for direction. Someone challenged me more than three years ago to start reading the Bible, but for two years, I put it off. When I finally got into it – not reading straight through, but starting in the new testament, I asked the Holy Spirit to come to me and give me new understanding, revelation knowledge and wisdom to really get it. More than a year later, it is really starting to sink in.
Prayers for your safe and revealing journey. Nothing will move you closer to the answers you seek than to put Him first and humble yourself to do what he tells you (Matthew 6:33). How to know if He is the one whispering to you is to compare it measure it against John 10:10.
Yes I will be studying the word and looking for his guidance but don’t you ever go to a friend or colleague and ask for advise? Do you think on what they have to say and make a decision? I find it hard not to do that. lol
Sure I have and I do… But the more I come to know and understand God’s word, the less I rely on the opinions of others. Once you find the will of God for yourself in your present situation, no person’s input matters. We are to ask, seek and knock, and when we get the answer, we are to go in faith – right now.
One of my best friends is the most obedient person I have ever known, and his life is so blessed – people seek him out to join their companies, he is well to do by most people’s standards, he has the most perfect marriage I have ever witnessed, and the list goes on.
All I know is this, God knows the thoughts and plans He has for your life. Plans full of hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
Not to sound ignorant but how do you know what He is saying? and how do you listen right? lol I know dumb question right?
Not a dumb question at all. What He is saying to us is all throughout His word (the bible).
In 2 Timothy 3:16 (Amplified version), it says “Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action)”
To listen right can be tricky if we haven’t first confessed Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior (read Romans 10:9-10, Romans 10:13, and Acts 2:21), and second, asked God to baptize us with His Holy Spirit (read Luke 11:10-13, and Romans 8:26-28). When we receive God’s Holy Spirit in us, He helps us better understand God’s word. He gives us revelation knowledge and understanding that others who don’t have Him in their hearts don’t have.
I was blown away at how much more I could understand what I was reading in the bible following the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
If you really are serious and want the benefits I have referenced, I would be honored to help you pray to invite Jesus into your life, and minister the baptism of the Holy Spirit when you’re ready.
